First Baptist Church of Birmingham - Birmingham, Alabama

Having come to First Baptist Church in 1993, Don and Debbie still greatly enjoy the people and music and worship ministry of the church. Don previously served for seven years at Fort Worth, Texas, and prior to that at Westwood Baptist Church in Birmingham for nine years.

Don’s training for ministry includes earning a Bachelors degree in music education from Samford University, and two degrees from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary: the Master of Church Music and the Doctor of Music Arts.

Don and Debbie are blessed with two grown children, Cliff and Kathryn. While he is an Alabama guy with roots in the Birmingham area, Debbie hails from Texas (a fact she will not let you forget), where she attended the University of North Texas, earning a degree in speech and journalism. Don’s hobbies include reading, hiking, Debbie, Cliff and Kathryn.

Two books he recommends are Exploring the Worship Spectrum, edited by Paul Basden, and Worship 365, by David M. Edwards.
